Unlike Bai Xingluo’s natural grace, he felt somewhat out of place in this outfit. He tugged at his belt and bent down to adjust the laces of his combat boots.
He looked up at his reflection in the mirror.
As a male insect, he naturally didn’t have the physique of a military female; he could only see faint muscle lines on his arms.
But luckily, Tong Sui had a good proportion.
Although the clothing didn’t exude much aggression on him, it was still quite striking overall.
Feeling a bit anxious, Tong Sui opened the door.
To his surprise, Bai Xingluo was already leaning against the door waiting for him. Seeing him come out, he quickly stood up straight, his gaze fixed intently on him.
This made Tong Sui lose a bit of confidence again; he tugged at his pants and quietly asked, “Is it a bit strange?”
“Not strange, it suits you very well.”
Bai Xingluo lowered his head, noticing Tong Sui’s combat boots.
He squatted down and said, “You need to tighten this a little more.”
“Oh, okay.”
Tong Sui also squatted down, mimicking Bai Xingluo’s movements to tighten the other combat boot. “Luoluo, I think I’ll have to trouble you to use your current identity and stay by my side.”
“I understand. My previous identity has a stain, and the Empire wouldn’t feel secure letting me re-enter the military,”
Bai Xingluo replied firmly. “As long as we can repel the star pirates and restore peace, these things don’t matter.”
The warship successfully landed.
Once the hatch opened, the low buildings and desolate land came into view, the air filled with smoke and large particles of sand.
When the wind blew, it felt like a whip on the face.
This camp area was part of the Imperial Star, yet the environment was completely contrary to its prosperity.
“Your Highness, please follow me,”
the council member said, carrying Tong Sui’s few belongings. “The conditions here are a bit poor; if you feel uncomfortable, just let me know.”
“Yes, I understand.”
Tong Sui took his luggage back and stepped into the place, feeling as though the ground under his feet was hard and scorching from the sun.
Along the way, they passed many tents.
Because they were temporary structures, the conditions were terrible.
Injured military females were forced to recover in such a stifling environment, their bandages soaked with blood, and most of them endured in silence.
“They are all injured military females from this battle. If needed, they will serve on the front lines again,” the council member explained.
Tong Sui frowned, “How can they go back when they are hurt like this?”
Their arrival attracted a portion of attention.
Most gazes were fixated on Tong Sui; his presence in such a place was like an incongruous cool moonlight.
However, most did not recognize Tong Sui and harbored some resentment towards male insects.
The council member whispered, “Harvey misallocated much of the funds to create his mecha, cutting expenses from other areas…”
Tong Sui recalled the mecha from the video.
He hadn’t expected it was built with this money.
“Luoluo.” Tong Sui turned to Bai Xingluo, pulling his hand and stepping a bit further away. “Can we discuss something?”
“You may speak.”
“I want to use the money transferred to my account to buy some medicine, to help these injured military females in an emergency,” Tong Sui said. “Do you agree?”
“That is your money; you can use it however you want without needing my approval.” Bai Xingluo replied, “Moreover, I was thinking the same thing.”
“You are so kind, Luoluo.”
Tong Sui happily planted a kiss on Bai Xingluo’s cheek.
Bai Xingluo was momentarily stunned. He raised a hand to touch his cheek, feeling a bit regretful about still wearing a fake outer shell.
Tong Sui walked back to the council member. “How large is the gap in medicines?”
“Are you planning to cover this expense?” The council member quickly shook his head. “That’s not possible; we can find our own way to resolve it and go through the approval process.”
“That’s too slow, isn’t it?”
Not to mention whether the Empire would be willing to take on this burden; by the time they finished the approval process and reallocated funds, the wounds of these military females would have worsened significantly.
“You’re right,” the council member conceded. “I have a statistical sheet of the number of medicine shortages. Please review the amount.”
“Okay.”
Twenty billion star coins was a substantial amount, enough for the quarterly fiscal revenue of an ordinary habitable star.
If it were for any other matter, Tong Sui would feel pained to spend it, but the significance of this situation was different. He didn’t hesitate and paid the amount immediately.
Lu Ting, who was standing nearby, spoke up, “You really are generous, wasting money on them.”
Tong Sui ignored him and lightly glanced at Lu Ting’s neck.
He immediately fell silent.
Seeing that the bill had been paid, the council member’s gaze at Tong Sui grew warmer. “The distribution of medicines can be discussed later with Vice Officer Xie Feibai. Please, follow me.”
Once they left, the injured military females finally spoke up.
“That handsome male insect actually wants to use his own money to buy us medicine?”
“I can’t be hearing this right, is this something a male insect would do? Aren’t they supposed to just push us to the frontlines to fight for them?”
“Who is he? Is he taking over Harvey’s position? He looks like a pretty porcelain figure; he probably won’t last long.”
“The older folks in the Empire are getting more and more unreliable.”
This group of military females had been suppressed to the point of losing hope, having seen too many instances of being given a sweet date after a slap, and naturally categorized Tong Sui and those male insects as the same.
Tong Sui and his companions passed through the temporary tent area.
A few buildings appeared before them, restoring some sense of familiarity with the Imperial Star.
The council member entered a complex identity verification code before the doors finally opened.
The environment here was much better than outside.
“Vice Officer Xie Feibai will take a little more time to arrive,” the council member said. “Your Highness, you can stay in my room first; I will take you up to have a look.”
